Kitchen Renovation – Middleboro Avenue, East Taunton, MA

Overview

Modernizing a home built in the 1800’s can be a tricky thing.  Taking advantage of modern conveniences and design styles while staying true to the traditional nature of the home requires a special touch.  This beautiful new kitchen on Middleboro Avenue in East Taunton is a great example on how to accomplish this successfully.

Originally built as a two family structure, the property was converted into a single family home some years ago.  Combining what was originally two separate kitchens into a single contiguous space created a long and narrow area that was already filled with an abundance of light.  The goal of this project was to update the aesthetic of the space while providing a built-in eating area and carrying common flooring through to the adjacent mud room and half-bath.

As a foundation, Starmark cabinets were selected to provide a high-quality natural wood look with a rich brown stain.  These were topped with a neutral colored granite countertop with textures of chocolate brown and gold.  To accommodate the minor flexibility in the century-old floor boards, luxury vinyl was selected for the flooring, complete with grout, to offer the look and sturdiness of stone tile with just enough give to not crack under minor stresses.  The room was completed with stainless steel appliances and sink including a gorgeous professional cook-top and hood.
